Well, I have been so behind because once I got the house and started making a few adjustments then the 2 weekends of moving came. We are still trying to get all of the sheet rock dust off the walls to be able to finish painting. I am one weekend away from having my office set up and I can't wait!

Our biggest challenge was the fireplace because we had never painted one before. I wasn't even sure you could paint brick, but what do you know.....you can!!

The living room is my favorite right now, check it out....

(NO IDEA WHY THE LIGHTS ARE SO BRIGHT IN THE PICTURE..HAHA)

THERE GO THOSE LIGHTS AGAIN : )

Well, that it's and I guess since class is ending soon you guys won't see the final product once we finish painting, but always welcome to check back and see the updates. I actually have friends and family that live out of the state that follows me on my blog because it allows them to see it and enjoy my first home with me!

I have enjoyed getting to know you all and working alongside you! Good Luck!!!!

Today is a very happy day, but I am so exahusted, I have a feeling I am going to have to get use to that for a few weeks!
Last night we got both downstairs ceilng fans up, which by the way we had never done before and I might add they look pretty snazzy! haha

I have to tell on myself and my roommate! We were about to kill each other by the time we got the first fan mounted and connected...this is after we had flipped every breaker in the house for fear of having the wrong one! HAHA
With anticipation building we pull both chains and wait for something to happen, some sort of moment, slight humming sound, ANYTHIHG, BUT nothing happend and yes we were heartbroken. We actually took it back down tried to twist the wires together better and recap the wire nut, but still nothing!

A friend called just before our defeat forced us to move to the next project and then after explaining to her what all we had done she asks the most simple question; "did you turn the light switch on the wall on?"
HOW DUMB CAN WE BE???? Nope we had not, but boy once we did there was the movement we were looking for and it was heaven on earth. Needless to say it took us all of 5 min to put the next one up!

Next I move on to laying paper/plastic and taping off the base boards while my roommate spackles holes in the walls. It was a long and tiersome night that ended at 1:30am and yes, getting up at 6:30am for work was tough but I am rejuvinated by the thought that we are one more major step closer to being finished!

Our next project after painting base boards and walls is to redo our fireplace!

This is how it looks now...

and this is similar to what we want  it will look like, but bricks will be a little
darker and keeping our same mantel just painting it white!
I CAN'T WAIT TO GET HOME AND GET BACK TO WORK!!!!

Well, I guess the scary part is over and signing day was completed last Thursday! I know I look like a dork, but my realtor always takes a photo in the attorney's office...HAHA
Sorry it's a little hard to view, but these are some of my friends that were there on Sunday when the sellers were finally able to get all of their things out around the weekend rain. We moved almost all of the things from my apartment, minus the things I use daily. After moving a ton of boxes we are enjoying the deck like it is our job! : - )
Here is my amazing little buddy, Sadie enjoying her new and first fenced in back yard. I'm pretty sure my neighbors are not going to enjoy her too much until she stops barking at all the dogs.....
WHAT? she is just trying to make friends! HAHA
And now the work begins, even if we don't know what we are doing! My parents are still willing to pay for us to have ceilings scrapped and painted smooth, but contractor can't come until this afternoon so we didn't waist anytime.
Everyone says it isn't hard just extremely messy, well let me reassure you IT IS THE BIGGEST MESS I HAVE EVER SEEN!! Scrapping was actually fun and spraying it with water was pretty fun too, but the clean up was a hot mess. It  involved a ton of plastic, a few brooms and a major shop vac! Check it out in the picture below and that is just the mess that stayed on top of the plastic! LOL
Prep, spray, scrap, and clean up for just the master bedroom and closet took 3 hours! BLAHHHHH

But hey, I learned a new skill even though I do not want to use it much! LOL

Hello fellow bloggers,

As for my stress level it is pretty high at this point! I have boxes all over my apartment and I started packing yesterday, here is my before pic and MAN it was crazy!

I will be living out of boxes for about 3 weeks until we get all of the work done in the house before our final move in April 13th! YIPPEE

I do have exciting news and God is so good, my parents have said they want to pay for our ceilings to be scrapped, patched and painted so we do not have to do it ourselves which was a HUGE blessing because as you know I have no idea how to do it! HAHA

Also, two of my great friends are giving me their lawn mower to save money on one of those for a while!

I am very excited and ready for this adventure, now I have to go buy paint supplies!!

Hey guys...
Well time is drawing close and the closing day is just under two weeks away!

So as I'm sure most of you know there is a lot that can change with buying a house. I'm speaking of the things I want to change and update. I have now decided to scrap the popcorn ceilings off and repaint them smooth. Has anyone ever done this before? I have a friend that "says" he knows how, but we will see about that. I hear it is very messy, any thoughts?

How to scrap popcorn ceilings!

I have decided to use this blog to discuss a topic that I am very excited about and that is home improvements. The reason I chose this topic is because I feel is can be a resource for information and I’m sure some of you might have some great ideas. I am in the final stages of purchasing my first home and I am VERY excited! I will be closing March 29th if everything continues to go smooth between now and then. I chose to stay away from your typical garden home and went for more room outside. It is a 4 bedroom 2 bath kind of older home built in 1985. The kitchen is amazing and has been completely remodeled with tile and stainless steel appliances and all hardwood floors on the main level. The inside is not what I am concerned about right now, but I’m sure as I move in I will see things I want to change. At this point I want to fix up the outside; I have a great size yard with an open deck and koi pond/fountain. I have attached a few pictures of the yard and I’m looking for ideas to make that deck a cool hang out area for friends.
I look forward to your ideas!!!
